The population was told that the- ration cards would be taken from them if they did not sign the petition against the use of the atom bomb. They were told that by declining to sign, they were voting for the dropping of the atom bomb. PRESSURE ON CHURCH CHARITIES -- Argentiniaches Tageblatt, No 19,527, 10. Jun 50 In the future, collections for the Protestant Church in Sachsen-Anhalt may be made only by collectors with a special identity card with photograph. The Peo- ple's Police will confiscate the money collected by 'anyone who does not. possess such.a card. UPPSALA DECLINES INVITATION -- Dagens Nyheter, No 151, 8 Jun 50 Uppsala University has decided not to accept an invitation from the soviet Zon7 German Academy of Sciences to send a delegate to attend the latter's jubilee. Nor will a congratulatory telegram be sent.
