(i) The URALMASH Steel works at SVERDLOVSK are, located north of the
town centre within the inner city and cover -an area of ca. 2,000 M. x 2,000 in.
The. works were built in 1925, but since 19+7 have been considerably enlarged
and modernised.

(ii) In October, 1928, .85 shops were in operation. A large part of
the works is now turning; out 76,2 tern; A.Tk./A.A.' rlual-purpose guns, but since
1947 shops Nos. 61-67 have also been producing arrnoiir plating which is not
used for the above mentioned guns. The guns themselves. are adjusted and
tested,in,the grounds of this factory
(iii) other shops are engaged on the'. production, of machine tools and

2. { The railway line between SVERDLOVSK and CHELYABINSK is
double-tracked, and is electrified from the large power station
(No. 720) at SVERDLOVSK. . Steam trains also run on the line.
3. The-sidings at every station and stopping-place on this
line, and the. branch lines runMing into it, were packed wits trucks
containing great quantities of factory machinery and machine tools,
all or most of which were said to come from Germany.
