1. Description of the Project Lusi NIXT Riv -. ~ AUTHI HR 704
This is an existing project that is concerned with the test and evalua-
tion and redesign and modification of a TSS developed Mobile Hydrogen
Generator. The generator produces hydrogen from the disassociation of
ammonia and the product gas is intended to meet the needs of Area Division
propaganda balloon operations. The test and evaluation and the redesign
and modification of the generator are well undervay. The testing un-
covered a design fault that involves high temperature metallurgy and re-
design of a basic generator part is necessary.
2. Purpose of the Project
The purpose of this part of the project is twofold. One, a contractor
that is an expert in the field of high temperature metallurgy will be
brought into the program and lend assistance to the testing group and to
the original contractor. Two, the results of this study wort will not
only be applied to the immediate redesign butt will form the basis for the
design of replacement retorts which are intended for subsequent shipment to
the generator operations site.
