CONFIDENTIAL
1. The Zorleni landing field was constructed in early 194.8 Its official
designation is ASAM (Aerodrom Sacrificiu Aviatia Militara - Sacrificial Air-
drome Military Aviation) Station. It is a subsidiary of ASAM Center No. I
Galati Region.
2. There are no aircraft based on this airfield. The installations are used
for minor repairs to aircraft engines, mainly IAR 80, IAR 85 and :sinkers.
There-are no runways; the surface consists of. rolled gravel and sand.
3. The following numbers correspond to the numbers on the attached sketch A:
1 - Barladul River.
2 - Town of Barlad
3 - Bar].ad - Husi Road.
4 - Zorleni village, located about two and one half kilometers from the
landing ground.
5 - Railroad station - Zorleni,
6 - Hills north and south of the landing field.
7 - Airfield.
8 - Railroad lines.
9 - Wooden bridge.
10 - Simile village.
The airfield and its installations are described in attached sketch B. The
numbers below correspond to the numbers on sketch Bt
1 - Entrance to the airfield. There is an unsurfaced road leading to
the village of Zorleni.
2 Workshops and hangar.
3 - Radio aerial installed in a pit. The aerial extends for about one
meter above ground level. It is, linked to the radio office by an
underground cable.
4 Concrete anti-tank obstacles about one meter high?
5 - Concertina barbed wire fence about three meters high.
6 -Sentry boxes manned with two guards.
7 - Sentry boxes manned with one guard.
