1. ,On 16 November 1951, Russians were still working on the fuel dump at Koethen airfield.*
t./k large portion of the containers was dug in. A freight train of about 15 boxcars,
which were apparently empty was observed on the spur track. No loading or un-
loading was observed. A track branched off from the Bernburg-Koethen railroad line
toward the field. Four cars which were used by Soviet or German train escorting
personnel were on this track. No activity was observed there. 3 No lighting
facilities were available at the field. Three trucks with box-like superstructures
probably mobile radio installations, were just west of the site on which the
planes of the alert flight were previously parked. The previously reported DF
station was no longer east of the Halle-Koethen railroad line. Five or six
Russians were engaged in surveying 500 meters north of Koethen-Dessau railroad
line, aboutl,000 meters west of Osternienburg. Jeep was parked at the 50X1-HUM
Koethen railroad station. Between 2 and 2:10 p.m. there was flying by four
biplanes over Koethen. Two planes flew individually while the other two were
flying in a formation.
On 20 November, there was flying, mostly by swept back jet fighters,at the field
throughout the day. Some single-engine fighters and ground attack aircraft were
also observed. *a* One swept-back jet fighter took off at 8:52 a.m. and circled
over the field once and another plane of the same type took off at 8:56 a.m#
for a local flight, Landings were made by a twin-engine plane at 2:03 p.m. and
by a single-engine plane at 2:07 p.m. A Russian general was transported to the
railroad station on truck
