Rumanian Ari ra but because of the lack of army specialists, the project
was finally accomplished by telephone company specialists. Forty
railroad cars of material were used, including approximately 10100
oak telephone poles and the necessary wire. The telephone instruments
were not installed by telephone company personnel; this task was to be
undertaken by the Army utilising field telephones. The Army employed
10 workers and specialists as well as about 200 soldiers. The group
used tugboats, lighters and motorboats in the operations At one point,
several soldiers and civilian specialists were almost drowned because
of stormso Later, the civilians were rewarded for their exploits and
cited in the telecommunications bulletin published by the Ministry of
Coamnunicationsn
