Who blew the whistle
on NBC to CIA's Casey?
It was a phone call from Washington
Post Editor Ben Bradlee that alerted
CIA boss William Casey to an NBC
telecast spilling the beans on a secret
U.S. spy caper. Casey wasn't even
aware of the broadcast until Bradlee
complained of being beaten on a story
the Post had withheld at the urging of
Casey and the President.
