WHEREAS, revealing the names of America's secret agents
has resulted in murder, and
WHEREAS, allowing people without background checks to
handle secret documents has resulted in security leaks, and
WHEREAS, weakening our ability to launch secret missions
against our enemies has resulted in the needless deaths of
American servicemen.
THEREFORE I, the undersigned, respectfully petition the
United States Senate to safeguard America by:
Punishing those who endanger the lives of America's
secret agents by revealing their names;
Checking the backgrounds of people handling secret
documents to keep out spies;
Strengthening our ability to launch secret missions so
we can better defend America against our enemies.

to make sure America never has another disaster like our failed
rescue of the hostages in Iran.

Pearl Harbor sneak attack. Only this time the attack will be with
atomic weapons.
Stop. Think what that means to you and each member of your

the liberal attacks on our CIA and our ability to successfully
complete important missions -- like the attempt to rescue the
American hostages in Iran.
You can help my campaign-by signing the enclosed Petition-in
support of criminal penalties against anyone disclosing our secret
agents identity. And background checks on people who handle secret
documents. And my Petition calls for an American ability to launch
secret missions.
I'm going to present your Petition to the U.S. Senate. We
need a strong American intelligence to help detect,. and thus deter
the Russians from launching a sneak nuclear attack.
In fact, without immediate action to strengthen the CIA, our
ability to detect a sneak, nuclear attack will be negligible.

You know, powerful anti-intelligence groups like the American
Civil Liberties Union and Americans for Democratic Action won't
like my Petition.
But, we've got to beat them.
Because America's security is weaker than I've ever seen it.
And this threatens the survival of you, me and every other
American.
Remember, our national survival depends on national security.
For example, Newsweek magazine says the halls of Congress are
a "prime target" for Russian spies. Or, maybe you saw the Time
magazine story on Communist spies working in the halls of Congress.
And yet today there's still no general security program for
keeping Soviet spies off Capitol Hill.
But, even more serious is our inability to successfully carry
out a secret mission.
Like the attempt to rescue our hostages.
Do you recall the last time the U.S. successfully pulled off
a mission like the Israelis did at Entebbe airport?
Perhaps the last fully successful U.S. secret operation was
back in 1953. There, our CIA outsmarted the Russians and put the
anti-Communist Shah of Iran in power.
Then for years we had a steady flow of Iran's oil.
What's more,. the anti-Communist Iran stood between Russia and
the oil-rich Persian Gulf.
Now Iran is ruled by crazy Khomeini and his mob.
And Russian troops in Afghanistan are only an hour'.s flying -
time time from the Persian Gulf oil fields.
We lost our electronic monitoring stations in Iran -- Russia's
back yard. These vital monitoring stations were listening to
Russian military communications.
As the former chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency, I know
how important military intelligence is to American survival.
Breaking top secret Japanese and German codes during World War
II helped win the war a lot sooner.
Military intelligence saved thousands of American lives.
But now liberal Senators like Ted kennedy want all of our

national security secrets laid out in full view. They want America's
secrets spread. out before Congressional committees.
They don't seem worried about Communist spies roaming the halls
of Congress.
And liberals like Kennedy don't want the U.S. to use electronic
listening devices.. .even though the survival of our country might
depend on it.
Now here's the worst.
The liberals in Congress want advance notice of any secret
operation.
But suppose a Red spy finds out about a secret mission. It
could cost American lives like the Iran rescue attempt.
Do you think we should risk the lives of our men by letting
Congress in on our military secrets? I sure don't.
But don't get me wrong. I know there are some fine loyal
Americans in Congress fighting back against attacks on our CIA.
And that's why I'd like you to sign the enclosed Petition.
Because I'm going to deliver your Petition, and those of the
other Americans I'm writing, to the United States Senate.
Our Petition will help force the liberals to support stronger
American intelligence.
And your Petition will be showing the Senate you don't want
anymore broken down American helicopters left in the Iranian desert.

Because you know what happens to Senators who don't pay
attention to voters: they get defeated. You saw it__happen in
this past election.
