1. On 10 October 1985, 1 was called on the Secure telephone by
Anne Greene, the SSCI staffer responsible for Latin America. Ms. Greene
thanked me for the memorandum I had sent her in response to her written
questions. She said that the paper was due tomorrow and asked me if I
could answer some final questions over the telephone. I consented to do
so.
2. Her questions concerned the level of representation at the
coordination meetings, i.e., how high level were the representatives sent
by each NFIB agency? Why would some agency have more than others? Was
there a sufficient divergence of views to make for a real exchange?
Given that there were no dissents, how difficult was the coordination
process, etc.? I answered all these questions for her without any
difficulty.
3. At the end of our conversation, she thanked me profusely for
providing her this information over the telephone and expressed hope that
she would have the opportunity to meet with me personally the next time I
was on the Hill. I told her I would inform OLL so that I could brief the
SSCI at some convenient opportunity and have the chance to meet her.
