1. DD~I axes fulfills DCI responsibilities to evaluate
intelligence and in addition performs some services of common
concern. In some cases the two facets are combined.
2. DD~I area:
a. Drafts and coordinates National Intelligence Bstimates.
b. Schedules, edits and publishes all basic intelligence.
c. Main producer of current intelligence in U.S. Goverrmaent.
Produces current intelligence with assistance of other
members of intelligence co?nnunity.
d. Main producer of intelligence on Soviet Bloc econoamy
and science.
e. Producer of information from foreign radio broadcasts,
domestic sources, foreign documents.
f. Has massive information storage, reference, and recovery

reference systems throughout the intelligence casmaunity.
g. Coordinator and developer of new methods in the field of
photo interpretation.

on file - Biographical Register, Industrial Register, Graphic Register,
chairs interagency Committee on Documentation to achieve compatible
systems -publishes information collected from US Government officials -
large machine problem - mechanical translator now ready for Russian,

but OCR actively at work on them.
