Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/01/12 : CIA-RDP90-00965R000403210003-2 2 7 APR 1974 JENKIN LLOYD JONES Mr. Jones has been editor of the Tulsa Tribune since 1941 and publisher of that newspaper since 1963. Joining the Tribune staff in 1933, he moved up to the vice presidency in 1938 and became editor three years later. Mr. Jones is the author of a book, The Changing Wor/d, and numerous travel pam- phlets. An inveterate traveller, he has been around the world five times. He visited the South Pole north of the Arctic Circle on five occasions. In all, his jour- neys have taken him to 112 countries. The columnist and Tribune editor is a recipient of the William Allen White Award from the American Society of Newspaper Editors and served as president of that organization. In addition, Mr. Jones is a past president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Well known in Oklahoma for his many civic activities, the Tulsa newspaperman is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Freedoms Foundation's Freedom Leadership award, the Fourth Estate award of the American Legion and distinguished service awards from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Oklahoma.
