THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR RE? SEE REVERSE) 1. Ships under repair at VEB Warnowwerft Warnemuende a. SOVETSKI SOYUZ It is hoped that sea trials will be carried out in mid-October. Delay is still attributed to the failure of the pinion of the turbine reduction gear. The ship's home port designation is Vladivostok. b. ADMIRAL WHIM Scheduled to be delivered on 31 July 1955. c. YURI DOLGORUKI Scheduled to be delivered in June 1956. 2. Ships under construction a. Volga-Don River Craft (under construction on the T-Platte) The progress on these vessels is as follows: No. 4 ONEGA - scheduled to sail for Odessa on 31 July 1954, via the English Channel. Nos. 5 and 6 - scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of August 1954. Ship No. 10 and those built subsequently will be 6 m. longer. In 1955, it is planned to construct six more of these vessels. b. Pontoons An unknown number of pontoons, of 15 tons, 50 tons, and 150 tons, for export, are being constructed in the shipbuilding shed. Type IV Freighters It is planned to build four of theme vessels for export. Three hundred tons of steel for their construction has arrived, but another 300 tone is required before work can begin. This steel is being supplied from Frankfurt/Oder. Franz and Schmiedt, of HV Schiffbau, are to leave for China on 31 August 1954 for discussions regarding future contracts for this type of ship. 3. lard Installations The four shipbuilding plants, which are served by the elevated cable way cranes, are now complete, Work began in March 1954 on the cutting away of the bank of the Warnew River so that the new Type IV Freighters, when laid down, can be launched. This work is to be completed by the and of August 1954.
