Approved For Relae 2007/02/08 : CIA-RDP91-00682R00O00070162-7 Journal Office of Legislative Counsel Wednesday - 12 March 1952 STATINTL 2. Mr. Berger, Special Assistant to Director for Mutual Security Harriman, requested that I review with him his draft of a proposed revision for the House Foreign Affairs Committee pamphlet. He desired that this be reviewed by the agencies separately rather than in a group, and I stated that I would at least desire the PSB rep- resentative to be present when we considered the revision. I then talked with Mr. Boyd Crawford, Chief Clerk of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and he informed me that the Committee staff study had in fact been based on a memorandum from Berger, and that they had assumed that Berger had coordinated the memorandum before submitting it. He agreed with me that at this point the best procedure would be to recall those copies of the pamphlet which could be obtained and not attempt to redraft it as this would point up the classified sections and might arouse greater discussion. I subsequently in- formed Mr. Berger that the CIA position would be to leave well enough alone and not attempt to redraft. (See also memorandum for the Director's Log, this date).
