submarine bases and navy yards lying along the east bank
of the Gironde River. The submarine base is carved out
of a rook strata which forms the bank of the Gironde River
on its eastern side. The Navy yards are a few hundred meters

ploited by the Germans and they are using them for repair
work and assembling of submarines.
