PURPOSE: This book may be used as an operating manual for the ~rarious
models of automatic lathes described, as well as for the study of
automatic machines for longitudinal form turning. It may also be
utilized in designing special machines based on Swiss-type, auto-
matic lathes.
COVERAGE: The book acquaints the reader with the most commonly used
Soviet-made single-spindle automatic lathes for longitudinal form
turning. It also gives a description of their construation,
special features and characteristics, and discusses the problam5
of maintenance and settings for the most efficient operation of

ABSTRACT: The effect of fin spacing on hydraulic resistance in narrow
annuli was studied. Hydraulic losses were measured in narrow (d/D=0.895,
where d = diameter of inside rod, D = tube diameter) annuli, having
three spiral fins wound on a central rod. In the range of relative
fin spacing of 3.5 < T/d < w, the hydraulic losses during turbulent floj
due mainly to frictionAwith the channel walls. These losses can be
calculated using the usual formulas for an annulis without fins. The
increase in hydraulic resistance of the channel with a constant fluid
flow rate is effective only with a small relative spacing between the
fins (T/d < 10). The data obtained approximate the results obtained
from measuring the hydraulic losses in staggered banks of finned rods

ABSTRACT: A simple, highly sensitive flame-spectrophotometric apparatus
was designed which completely meets all requirements made
of such devices. An air-acetylene flame served as source
of light. Sprayer and burner have already been described
kRef 10). A monochromator INT-2 is used. A circuit diagram
of the photometer is gi7en (Fig 1). Photomultipliers with
antimony-cesium (FEU-29, FEU-17 and FEU-11), bismuth-cesium
(FEU-32 or FEU-12), oxygen-cesium (F2U-22 and FEU-VEI), and
bismuth-silver-cesium photo cathodes can be used whose ab-
solute spectral data (Fig 1) and sensitiveness (Table)are
given. The photomultiplier is fed by a rectifier with an
electron stabilization of the type VS-16. In order to feed
the d.c. amplifier, rectifiers with an electron stabilization

according to D. 11. Ivanov's method (Refs 1, 4, 5) and Rb
and Cs according to the method of additions (Refs 1, 6). The
mean relative error of the respective determinations is

In all layers of the cortex of field 45, theie appear wrinkled
nerve cells and nerve coils with redistributed Nisal substance (accumulat~-
ing in one part of the cell); during subsequent agepcriods, this is
often associated with a homogenization of this matter.
With respect to the cortex of field 45., there are some structural

Abstract I The phenomena, described in the report, throw light on numerous details
in the ontogcnesis of birds (poultry). The fact that the chicken
embryo absorbs feeding material during a third or fourth of the period
