Methods used in the treatment of 78 cases of asthma in children aged 1-13 yr. were
as follows: Cupping glasses, warm footbaths, adrenaline administration into the
nose and ephedrine were used ir the prodromal period. Attacks were arrested by
plat-ing the child in a semi-sitting position and administration of adrenaline,
ephedrine and a mixture ('theophedrine') of theophylline, theobromine, caffeine,
aminopyrine, phenacetin, ephedrine, folia belladonnae, phenobarbital and lobeline
(or cytisine). Treatment in periods between attacks comprised regular habits,
rational diet, vitamin supplements, fresh air and exercises. Traskov's mixture
and 10-(2-(Iimethylaminoethyl phe.nothiazine ('ethizine') were also tried. All

Dreathing in Patients with Dronebial Asthma.

Abstract: In 46 patients with bronchial nathm, the arterial
pressure (AP) was measured (according to Korotkov).
A higher r=iml AP was noted during exhalation and
a drop in it during inhalation. The magnitude of
the respiratory fluctuations of AP, used by the
author as the inhalation-exhalation difference,
occur parallel to the degree of difficulty of

breathing. An increase of this difference prevents
the appearance of an attack of bronchial asthma,
and its determination can aid objective evaluation
of the difficulty of breathing.
