and to mothers who developed anemia shortly after childbirth
showed that there was no difference betwoen the 2 groups tip to
an age of 12 to 15 months. 50 infants were included in each
group. It appears that infants born to sideroponic nothers are
not threatened by sideropenia in their first year of life. 'I"here
is,however,a tendoncy to a marked iron deficiency; every case of
sideropenia of -no~;hers should therefore be treated by iron therapy.

A 20-year-old man developed strong, non-specific antibodies, which were difficult to
Identify, following repeated transfusions of homogenous blood in the course of
recent years. The patient reacted to the transfusion of total blood and antihaemo-
philic globulins with aggravation of haernatological changes and deterioration of the
clinical condition. The first transfusions of fresh plasma brought abaut a short-
lasting improvement which. however. was decreasing under the influence of repeat-
ed transfusions. The influence of hormonal treatment remains an oprn question.
