Report on , youth of 18 showing an extrapyramicaL syndrome, clinical sign
of cirrhosis of the liver and corneal Kaiser-Frelacher ring. Autopsy revealed
lobular cirrhosis of the livdr (950 r.). The brain wiegJ:ied 1,150 g. (Undis-
sected)and showed anomalous structures . There was an abundance of Alzheimer
cells, partly with nucleoli showing metachromasia. Them was aiso prolifer-
ation of oligodendroglia and astroCyte3, while the microjo.ia were normal.
No necrotic processes were found. Chemical exa-Tiination abowed that both t
the brain and the liver had an increased copper content. The iron content
in the cerebral cortex and the white matter was decreaBed, It was normal I n

is noted that the content of reducint! Sugars in maize ex-
tract, produced by the modern inethod, doe!3 not constitute
nn index of its quality.
