ABSTRACT: Referring to the article by Ya.B. Chertkov and V.K. Zrelov, published
in Neftyanik, 1958, Nr 3, under the title Nater Treatment of Petroleum
Distillates", the author of the present article stattes that the method of re-
moving hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans from distill* Is by water is verywell
known. However, it has no' been widely used due t~ unsive corrosion of
equipment it causes, and ~L to contamination of refinery slops with hydrogen
sulfide - Since the anticorrosive coating and FLI 1 y steel bas been employed
as refin ry equipment paterial,'this problem, in the opinion of the author,
must be reexmained. According to views expressed by Chertkov mud Zielov in
their article, the neutralization with caustics should be discontinued and sub-
stituted by water treatment. Miey ambstantiate their proposal by figures
obtained from numerous experiments. Since the conswuption of caustics at the
refinery may be considerably reduced, if their proposal is accepted, the author
believes that the question raised by Chertkov and 7an-lov in ve~Ty important and

orther regions should be made.

Abstract: stirring there are gradually added 2 ml 25% NH 31 Yield of V 90%,
MP 135-1360 (fgom benzene). Analogously was prepared VIj, yield
90% MP 175-176 (from benz&), and VII, MP 159-16oO (from benzene).
B;~ heating 0.01 mol VT_T anM 8 (CH CO)20 (VIT-T) (2 hours, 5o-6oo)
prepared acetate of VII (Vith CH(Q_group), Dip 189-1900 (from
alcohol) the strulture of which is proved by spthesis from ~6-
acetoxy-a-naphthaldebyde and chloral anmonia in anhydrous ether.
From 0.01 mol V, 0.04 mol anhydrous Na2CO3 in 25 9 ether and 0.00,
mol CH3COC' in 5 g ether is obtained acetate of V, yield 0.8-1 g,
NP 175-1760 (from alcohol), which on stirring with 0.5 g VIII in
15 ml ether and 0.2 g water is converted to o~-naphthyletdeneacetamide
(IX), MPIM-2500 (from alcohol), while with phthalic acid anhydride
(X) it gives a mixed arylideneciacylamide, MP 188-1890 (from alco-
hol). Analogously from 0.01 mol V and 0.02 mol C6H5COCl was syn-
thesized the benzoate of V. mp 174-1750 (from alcohbl), which with
X also forms a mixed arylidenediacylamide, MP 181-1820 (from al-
cohol). IK is obtained on reacting VIII with V.

TEM Four basic types of logical circuits are enumerated
and briefly characterized, and the circuit diagram and operation of
an electronic switch with transistors described. The application
of transi--tors makes it possible to obtain combined logical circuits
with two outputs of types 11,M-NOT" and 11UR-1NOT" containing few elp.-
ments, Thermal compensation is obtained through using additional
resistors which feed the bias voltage to the base o'L'7 the output
transistor. Decoupling of the inputs to the logical. circuits is
accomplished by transistors. The number of transistors in an ",ZD-

output pulse circuit to drive a power contactor, and an example of

Bulg~aria for the firsts time in 1960 as occurring among ohoop (cattlo
cases had boon recorded in Bulgaria as early ac 1938). The author de-
scribes the clinical symptoms. Antibiotics such as terramycin, tetra-
cyclin, and biomycin have been offoctive in treatment. The basic pre-
ventive device is to kill the carrier ticks. The economic loss is
sioqificant in -'Clerms of meat and milk.

.1. _,7 The usual methods for alcin polarization
investigation in animals are not suitable for research with humans.
Consequently, the authors developed a new method described in this paper, which
ostimstes the sicin polarization of man by measuring the electrical resistance
of the skin. It uses frcquencies of 2,000 and 25,000 c/flec and a voltage of
350 mV. Tests on a large number of patients indicate that the mean values of
the polarization index monsured on the volar side of the forearm in healthy
children ranging in age 'rom I to 14 years varies between 1,500 and 295C0 Ohms~
The invostications of children suffering from rheumatism or rheumatoid
arthritis showod substantial chang6s in the polarizational indox, depending on
the evolution of the disease. There aro 1 Bulgarian and 5 Soviet references.

TITLE: Rational Order of Shifting Regenerators

ABSTRACT: For the proper maintenance of normal air temperatures, It. I.,,
recommended that regenerators be shifted in the. proper order. The
most rational shifting arrangement was found to be I -- IT - III -
IV (see Fig. 1). The straight airline will be heaLed and cooled
graduall,y and more uniformly, alloving tile more efficient mainten-
ance of predetermined temperatures. There La I figure.
