TEXT; An experimen-cal investigation is described of the energy-
and angular distribution of protons in (d,p) reactions with nickel
isotopes M 584 60, '9 6
02; 4), for deuteron energies of 13.6 Mev.
The investigation was prompted by the isotope effect recently ob-
served In the elastic scattering of protons by nickel isotopes.
The deuterons were obtained at The cyclotron of the Institute of
Phys-.cs of the AS UkrSSR. A parallel deuteron-beam of 5 - 7 mm
diameter was applied to The Bpe%imens, The energy spectrum of the
protons was recorded-by a scintillation spectrometer which con-
sieted of The crystals CsJ(Tl) or JaJ(Tl), the photomultipliers
(Dar-29 (FEU-29) q~S'Y-15 JEU-15), and a 5-channel amplitude pul-
se-analyzer. T~ie measuremen' us were carried out over angles o^ 10

and a Qurrent, integrator,, The specimens -were isotope mixtures,

compost_tlon of the specImens and iheir thickness is given in a ta-
ble,, The theoretical curves were calculated by formulas of Butler's
theory~ A figure shows The proton disturibution As a function of
ihe energy Q. The quantity Q was determined, for each group of
proTons in the (,Jp~-reaotlon, by means of the spectrometer. In V_K
addition, Q was calculated by the mass-defect. The experimentalT
wid calculated values of Q sho&ed good agreement. The angular distri-
bu`Clon of the Dro-.-on groups which correapond to neqtaNon capture AW
the ground s-uate, have a shrp maxim-,am and asymmetry near 900. This
is an of the fission character of the (d,p)-reaction.
A comparison betreen experimental and theoretical curves showed
good agreemeni~ excep,. for a peak in the neighborhood of 350. This
discrepancy can be explained by rhe computation method used. In

;
f Faraday's cylinder and a current integrator. The specimens were
thin (2-3 mg/cm). In order to reduce the measurement error, diffe-/
rent spectrometers with different solid angle, were used, and the
results - averaged. The measurements were conducted for protons
which traveled at an angle of 300 to the incident flux; these mea-

surements, in conjunction with the angular distribution of protons,
obtained in Ref. 1 (Op.cit.) led to determination of the differen-
tial cross-section of (d,p)-reactions at the maximum of the angular
distribution. For verification of the method, the differential
cross-section of (d,p)-reactions in C12 were measured for the
ground state. A table lists the differential croes-section for va-
rious Ni isotopes and C12 and c13. The error in determining the
differential crossJsection did not exceed 25 %. A comparison
with results obtained'1W
,y other authors for 012, showed good agree-,
ment. Knowing the absolute value of the differential cross-section
it is possible to determine the reduced width e2 (occurring in But-
ler's theory) for fission reactions. The values of e2 for the ground
states of the isotopes N15M1063065 ' are also listed in the table.

ed by 0_-F. Nyemets. Ox-ring to insufficient resolution of the lattcr,
particles corresponding to the transition.to the ground state of

ABSTRACT: An Author Certificate has been issued for a rotory-piston internal-com-
bustion engine consisting of a block with n cavities of epitrochoidal profile and
a shaft carrying an eccentrically mounted rotory-piston with n + 1 protrusions,
forming with the cavities (during a planetary motion) the working chambers; it is
cooled by the fuel mixture fed by an axial fan through channels in the rotory piston.
To simplify the design and increase the coefficient of charge,in the rotory-piston
channels are arranged fan blades in the form of radial ribs placed at an angle to.
the rotory piston's axis of rotation. The opening for feeding fuel into the working
chamber can be located on epitrochoidal surface of the block. Orig. art. has:

ABSTRACT! Replacement of sphalerite by chalcopyrite is observed
in the ores of lead-zinc veins occurring in Bajocian
p'orphyrites. In replacement of this type, when the
unit cells of both minerals are similar, ionic dif-
fusion takes place and cations of Zr are exchanged for
Fe and Cu ions. No change in the anion composition of
the lattice occurs and only a partial reconstruction
results. Frequently one may observe the preservation
of some details of the internal structure of the
replaced mineral. The formation of rims of chalco-
Card 1/2 pyrite on the borders of aphaierite and marcasite are

also explained by replacement. In this process the Fe was derived
from the marca3ite, In contrast to the first case in whicl-i Fe and Cu
were introduced by hydrothermal solutions. Replacement is also
observed in structurally different combinations that have comon
anions, for example- pyrite by sphalerite. This process clearly
takes place by disintegration of the crystal lattice of pyrite and
dissociation of the double Ions *. The author describes examples
of replacement of ore minerals by vein minerals, and vice versa.
In these cases the initial mineral was completely dissolved, the
material romovod, and the now substance introduced.

TITLE- Radio at the-TMftival (Radio na festivele)
PERIODICAL: Radio, 1957, Nr7, pp3l-32 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: Briefly described are public-address systems, radio communication and tv
services at the Sixth International Festival of Youth and Students and at the
sport contests (Tuly 29 to Aug 10, 1957) organized by the Olympic Committee
of the USSR. Officials responsible for communication facilities at the festival
were Interviewed.
I.A. Shamshin, Chief Engineer of the Moscow City Wire-Broadcast Network, said:
We have installed public-address systems in the streets, parks, squares, etc.,
also on the stages. We also installed the facilities for simultaneous inter-
pretation of speeches into 8 foreign languages. We also use mobile public-
address outfits. Most of the equipment was developed, manufactured,' and installed
by our organization.
The Institute of Radio Reception and Acoustics (IRPA) has developed a new
radio system for language-interpretation facilities. A number of small-power
superlong-wave transmitters operate on a common loop antenna which surrounds
the building. Each member of the meeting selects the channel he needs in his
pocket-size receiver which is with a magnetic"antennd. The band used
is 40 to 145 kc.

"Reporter-2" type portable tape recorder; its circuits including the motor are
supplied by dry batteries. We also trained personnel for tone monitoring and
other functions. We will be doing transcribing and phanogram. copying at the
festival. The sum total of the rooms at the "Radio House of the Festivalw,
where foreign guests will work, is 202000 M3.

TITLE: Transistor Equipment for Village Radio Opwators (floluprovod-
nikovuyu tekhniku - radiofikatoram sela!)
PERIODICAL: Radio, 10,58, Nr 8, pp 16-17 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: Transistorized radio equipment and voltage convortors would
fill a particularly vital neod in the US,SR because of, the
extremely short supply of batteries and especially 11T bat-
teries for radio sets. The views of A.A. Severov, Chief
Engineer of the Administration of the Mlinistry of Communi-
cations, USSR, V.S. Kefeli, Chief Engineer at the Voronezh
Radio Plant and V.A. Govyadinov, Chief of Technical Admi-
nistration at 'the 11.7inistry of Communications, USSR are given.
They discuss the difficulties connectea with battery manu-
facture and indicate the advances made in transistorized
equipment and the part it could play J.r helping to bring
the radio to kolkhoz villages. The Voronezh Radio Plant
is producing a new modi~l of the "Rodinall receiver which
works on transistors and miniature tubes. In 1957v a
trial batch of "Voronezh" portable receivers, superhotero-

and blueprints for transistorized equipment have been pre-
pared by the Institutes of the Ministry of Communications
and are available to industry. The sov-narkhozes are called
upon to play theiiz part in the development and productior,
increase of transistorized equipment.
