and stainless steelf were determined by filtration of the water from the
primary circuit of the reactor on an ion-exchange filter and detection of
beta-aotive isotopes'from the curves of their absorption in Al, and
gamma-active isotopes by-scintillation gamma-ray spectroscopy. It in
suggested that the radioactivity of the water is caused by the presence
of Mg 27, Mn56 , Na 249.W1879 F0599 Sr 89 , Ta 182 0 Ag 110 and Co. 6o

vaginite. On mycotic agents inducing vulvo-vaginitis D-;;'R,%T.-
VENERCL. (Bucureqti) 1956, 1/2 (122-124)
In the prenent account the authors relate the results of mycological researches
effected on a series of species of blastosporiferous fungi, isolated from cases of
vulvo-vaginitia, The majority of these fungi (55.50,46) belonged to the species Candida
tropicalis. A small number (11.1016) belonged to the species Candida chalmersi and
only 31. 301) to the species Candida, albicans. The Candida tropicalis is generally
considered to be a pulmonary parasite and was found with unexpected frequency in
the vaginal mycoses. The vaginal habitus of the species Candida. tropicalis has not
been described heretofore. (Yeasts and pseudoyeasts may also be present in the
non-diseased vagina. It is necessary to distinguish between candidiasis being
causal or merely present. Ed.)

Abstract: Following twice repedted subcutaneous injection
in men of lml of lilOOO solution of adrenalin
of the same amount of histamin, no definite
changes were observed in the total proteins
(as determined by the micro-method of Kjeldal)
and protein fractions (as determined by paper

and changes in the course of the day overlap
the possible changes produced by the mediators.

ABSTRACT: Hydrogen Isotope exchange facilitates the experimental study
of the stability of carbon-hydrogen bonds in organic compounds under varying
conditions. This 811OWS the evaluation of the influence of the structure and
of substituenta upon the stability of there bonds. The hydrogen isotope
exchange is really the simplest case of substitution; it allows making certain
inferences in clarifying the processes of other, more complex isubstitution
reactions. The structure " reactivity of organic composuids can be studied

T~.XT: This lighting device consists of two side reflector's, stamped
. oift of zinc-plated ste6l strip, which are coimected with the lamp housing.
The lamp housing contains a discharge tube whose light is reflected from
th; side reflectors. The latter are painted with yellow and red paint mix.-
ed:,with glass sand, which well reflects the light-rays falling upon it.
Filament lamps may also be used, for which purpose the'lamp housing is pro--
vid td with normal lamp holdeis. A system of screening panels is used for
preventing dazzle and for regulating the intensity of the light. If t1he
mairf.lighting network fails, the lamp can be switched over to battery feed..
If there are no supply sources available, the lighting device can make use
of the light beams from an aircraft projector. A-set of lighting units for
an airfi'e'ld can be folded up and carried on a truck. The lamp's service

ABSTRACT: The invention concerns a method of making friction surfaces of madhin e
parts from iron alloys by diffuse sulfurizing, salenizing or nitridizing or a com--!
bination of them, whereby boron with a concentrat3.on of at least 0.05% by volume
in the active medium can be simultaneously diffused Into the part. In creating
Wfuse surface layers in the liquid medium, the usual means are used for wAfo.

ABSTRACT: In: this article, the author deals with the accuracy 13
achieved by the USSR in launching its lunar rockets
and in its recent ICBM tests. The accuracy achieved by
the USSR can be seen from the following: A deviation
of 1 m/sec from the maximum speed of the Lunik II car-
rier rocket would result in a deflection from its pre-
determined target by 200 km, When the Soviet 'ICBM-,3
launched on 20 Jan 60, mis3ed its precalculated t jet
by about 2 km, it means, that its maximum speed had
to be maintained within an accuracy of about 0.9 m/sec,
which corresponds to 0.003 % of the maximum speed.

is a deflection from the launching angle. 'For example,
a deviation of 1 minute of the Lunik II launching angle
would result in a 250 km error at tne impact point.
The maximum launching angle deflection of the Soviet
ICBM launched on 20 Jan 60 could not have been higher
than 16 seconds of an arc. The author then briefly
describes the technique in the production of accelero-

ABSTRACT: Calciumfluorlde single crystals were prepared from high-purity CaF2 in
the absence of moisture and oxygen, without rare earth or tetravalent metal ion
acceptors. They were grown in a vacuum furnace at no less than I x 10-5 mm Fig. and
1. 5% PbF2 was added. The optical transmittance of the crystals in the ultraviolet
