Abstract A device has been develo ed for the detectioii of apses;
the (levice (catharomater3 is based an the indirect deter-
mination of the therrml conductivity or on the compari-
son of the therml conductivities of two different L-a-
ses. The detector can be used for the de-terrAnation of
the concentrations of two Gases of sufficiently differing
thermal conductivities over a wide range. The device is
relatively simple in desigm) safe, and cheap to mnufac-
turc. When the detector is combined with an appropriate

Detailed description of a simple and precise apparatus for pulse frequency record-
ing. A specially designed ink-writing linear volume recorder of the author (tas.
Lek. des. 1955, 94, 269) (double cylinder) is Inflated by the continuous air flow
which is Interrupted by each pulse. thus allowing the recorder to return periodic-
ally to the zero level. The interruption of the air flow is accomplished by discon-
necting the current to a small electric pump, the contact being activated by suit-
able means, e.g. directly by a pelote, or by a plethysmograph, by the amplified
electrocardiogram etc. In the resulting record the duration of each pulse interval
is shown as the ordinate height and the pulse frequency as the envelope of these

ABSTRACT: 'Influence of the quality of the stimulus on inverse,
vasodilatdr responses in painful vertebrogenic syndromes was
studied, 55 healthy subjects and 25 patients with an algetic reti-
icular syndrome were tested for the vascular responses elicited
by standard stimuli. In healthy subjecta,vasodilator response

courred In 10,9 to 16.1% in algbtic patients. An atro-olne''
injection changed the inverse vasodilator r-sponse to n6rmal vaso-
constriction to nocicoptive and sound stimuli in 96 and 72di .4
respectively. In inverse vasomotor responses important part is-

ABSTRACT: Vascular reflexes in the temporal region were studied with the aid of-
electrocar)acitance plethysirtography, a method that records the thickness of the'
air dielectric between the surface of the tissue and the explora-
tory electrode. 9 healthy subjectsi, '10 patients with vertebro-
genic migrainest rind 8 with other types of migraine were inves-
tigated, Healthy people showed always vasodilntor responses
patients with vartebrogenic migraines showed in M6 vasoconstriator
responses in tha temporal regions both on the affected and the
nonaffected sido. During mental effort there was a decrease of
vasodilator responses., In non-vertebrogeni6 migraines vasocon-
striator responses in temporal regions were found in 19%. The
results of experiments show distinct differeneea in the extra-
