ABSTRACT: The quantity of precipitation during the su r and the winter
ii Budapest in 1964 was correlated with the content of chloride ion,
sulfate Lon, nitrate ion, ammonium ion, and calcium, and such electrical
characteristics as pH and electrical conductivity in the precipitate.
The data obtained were presented and discussed. The significance of the
relationships observed, such as the air-scrubbing ability oi the various
precipitates, was discussed in terms of overall chemical and physical

disease is concerned, the second. The process spread for 5 yr.. to an extraordir.-
ary degree. The detailed description and working out of the clirucal picture calls
attention to the possible disturbance of the endocrine system. Thorough el-iboration
of other similar cases may, possibly, bring an explanation of the aetiology.

hibition of the conditioned interoceptive arousal :eaction has been studied
in dogs vith double intestinal or ureteral fistulL. It has been found
that, if the mechanical stimulation of the wa-11 o--' one intestinal segment
is associated with a reticular stimulus causing a--ousal, and the stimulation
of the other intestinal segment is not followed bj reinforcement. a differen-
tiation of the conditioned arousal develops. No differential inhibition
develops to the stretching of the tvio renal pelvis. On the basis of the
evidence gathered, conclusions are drawn as to the central representation
of non-symmetrical and symmetrical visceral afferentation. 2 Western, 6

ABSTAACT: Samples from smallpox suspects vere tested during the epidemic in
'Po-i-andin 1963. Chorloallantoic membrane of chick embryos was used for iso-
lation. Hyperplastic foci occurred as a result of infecting Hela cells with
small doses of the identified virus. The phenomenon is described in the li-
terature as the differentiating agent botwe*n variola and vaccinle, virus.
Serum hemagglutinin levels obtained bY the authora correspond to the results of
McCarthy, Downie, Elizberg and Marennikowa. A high correlation existed between
serum antigen levels and the clinical pattern of the d1sease. Ant1hemagglutinin
levels corroborate the diagnosis of variola. In the *vent of clinical and
bacteriological negative fladings, this may serve " a basic diagnostic
