Radiobiological tests showed that the HBE of protons, which, constitute the chief radiation hazard,, is close to one. Thus *it was possi-,1 ble to use experimental and clinical o6ervations of gamma- and x-ray :ACC NR, AT6036541 irradiation to ev@alua'te the space radiation hazard on brief flights. Exper- imental studies on large laboratory animals were used to establish a basis for permissible doses during lunar flight. This method permitted evalua- tion of the character and degree of radiation injuriep from gamma and protori irradiation in the dose'kange to be encountered durin lunar flight. In '9 addition, clinical observations of people subjected to local. irradiation for cancer treatment werg analyzed, A classification of regulated doses for brief spacefLights was made on the bas is of this materi al. The lesions occur in the upper parts of the alimentary tract and in the lungs, The death of one child at the age of 11 months was due to mycotic septicaemia with peritonitis and embolism in the skin. Thirteen children suffering from septico-toxaemia had received different antibiotics during a period from 6 to 30 days. Broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment may lead to an increaced virulence of the fungi (Candida). Photomicrographs show the changes in diifcrcnt organs. The following problems are posed: 1) the question of agricultural and forest biocoenosea resistance to dangerous pest increases; 2) the revision of contemporary methods in applying chemicals in agricultural and forest industries; 3) the tendency to 2.imitu the use of synthetic insecticides to a minimum necessary for plant protection; 4) the study of the effect of intiecticides on: a) plant development and accumulation in fruits; b) on useful animals; c) the quality of meat in farm animals; d) on human Card 1/2 POLAND / General and Specialized ZooloU - Insects 0-7 Abs Jour Ref Zhur - Biol., No 6., March 195T,, No 23217 health; e) on microorganisms and soil inhabitants; f) on parasites and eaters of harmful insects; 5) analysis of poisonous accumulations in soils, fruits and seeds, in PniTml and huninn organisms; 6) the biochemical study of insecticide preservation of the biotope: d) the process and tempo of their decomposition in biocoonosis; b) phyoico- chemical changes produced by them in soil and plants; c) the effect on yidld of treated Plants; 7) the production of new selective insecticides.
