ABSTRACT: After a survey of numerous papers by other authors dealing with the
P* stability and free vibr4ktions of thin isotropic supported cylindrical and conical
sheIls under various boundary conditions, the present authors come to the conolusion-~
Z'. that the formulas so far suggested for the determination of the frequencies of
vibrations of the conical ~shells are owabersome, and that their applicability range ii~
not well defined. The present paper -investigates the stability and small extra-axiAl---

ture of the band. To this end, the 6(0,0) band of the NO molecule
is used as an example to demonstrate that the Honl and London fac-
tors (H. Honl and F. London, Zs. Phys. v. 33, 803, 1925), calculated
by the method of E. Hill and J. H. Van Vleck (Phys. Rev. v. 32, 250,
1928), yield intensity distributions in the band that are in good
agreement with experiment. This makes it possible to use the in-
tensity formulas obtained with the aidlof the wave functions for a
symmetrical top, which in the case of the NO molecule agree with the
experimental values. The calculated intensity factors are compared
with experiment by using the data of F. F. Marmo (J. Opt. Soc.

ABSTRACT: It has been shown that in~eiectrooptical crystals of the
cubic system the maximum transverse electrooptical effect takes place
during crystal orientation when the vector E is perpendicular to the
plane (1101 and the direction of the light beam is correspondingly
perpendicular to the plane [110'.. [Translation of abstract] (AM)

ABSTRACT: An improved version of the RK-1 cosmic-ray prob-e. is
described. The original, which has bile-nused successfully for several
years, has been simplified to the schematic shown in Fig. 1. The
changes are that the modulator (TI) requires one rather than the former
two tubes; also, Tj in the new design is normally cut off except during
a recording pulse, which gives a saving in average anode drain. Except
for these changes, the probe design is the same. The STS-6 Geiger

Abstract The hepatic function was studied in 150 patients with
an ulcer of the stomach or of the duodenum (Florence's
test, hyperglycaemic curves) Kvik-Pytell test). in
36 patients only the results of the 3 tests were abnor-
mal; the results of 2 tests were abnormal in 62 patients,
and the results of one test were abnormal in the other
patients. Liver disorders were not always observed in
patients with peptic ulcers, Some functional disordero
were reversible when rational therapy was applied.
