Therefore the bidder submits the toliowing inrormation; 1.. The gain for the subject antenna will be 5 db over dipole for the frequency range of 30-60 me and 6 db over dipole for the frequency range of 60-1000 mc. The above statement should be considered as a part of the specifications for the subject equipment. 2. A brief description of the development program contemplated by the referenced quotation is as follows: The development program will consist of a mechanical stress analysis of the antenna - structure, the preparation of new drawings and bill of materials, complete electrical tests on the antenna and the preparation of a report and an instruction book. Special problems whichwill have to be solved are the design of a new tapered line balun, the determination of a suitable location for the supporting mast, the design of apparatus to hold the antenna so that it may be easily rotated for polarization chan'ge_and, most important, the design of a special section for the front end of the antenna in the 30:1 bandwidth. For structural reasons, this front end should be rugged so as to hold the halves of the antenna together, but for electrical reasons, the metal parts, of this front end should.be small so'as to preserve the desire4 pattern character- istics . It"iS felt that the front end de sign,ts,;certainly feasible, but it will Ice, ,a considerable amount. of investigation: As with any new antenna design, ,it will take a consi4e.le'unt o? time to complete all the detailed designs-and dratdings.
