LOGNOTE -- Chief, Operations Group, 14 February 1984
1.
Following from this morning's staff meeting:
- OSO is proposing a secure Wang system which will link all the
office directors with each other and DD/SU. A committee has
been set up to look into the security problems.
- As reported earlier, DDCI has been on the Hill trying to get
the POIA dropped or amended. He has received unexpected
support from ACLU who also feel the law should be changed.
- Registry reports some very strange packages going through the
mails. There will be a tighter check in packages going ta.,the
bureaus.
- The IG has started a program of using personnel from other
components on four-month rotations to look into specific
problems. FBIS no doubt will be tapped to participate.
- DCI is predicting that after the election there will be
changes in the retirement programs for government employees.
This looks like a sure thing. 0/P is trying to make the case
that the Agency should have its own retirement program (so is
State), but no one holds out much hope for this.
