LOGNOTE -- Chief, Operations Group, 14 March 1985
1. D/FBIS is circulating a lognote on the Monday-Tuesday
DDS$T management conference, but the following are the highlights:
- The budget picture looks okay for FY-85 and probably for FY-87.
But in FY-86 we probably will have to take a $1.8 mil cut in what
OMB calls an "inflation adjustment," the theory being that the
administration has cut inflation to the point where programs will
not cost as much as anticipated when the budget was prepared
(you'll also believe in the crock of gold at the end of the
rainbow if you can swallow that).
- We came out pretty well on the unfunded requests. We will have
to pick up the Tel Aviv rent, but that shouldn't be a great sum
for '85 alone. We also will have to pick up the Okinawa A$E
costs for the housing start. S$T will try to get DDI to provide
some funding for the two TV projects. The Nicosia move will be
paid out of the SF,T reserve, though we may have to try to stretch
out construction costs if possible.
- DDI and NPIC are far under T/0. DDSF~T wants to go over T/0 if he
can to try to use some of the unused DDI headroom and also to
make the Directorate average look better. So the word still
is--recruit, recruit, hire, hire:.
