This is what is happening with the Et Ampere incident -- the Et amparo incident that shocked and continues to shock the Venezuelan people. The Venezuelan people want to hear the truth, alt, the truth, 4rd only truth about what happened in EL Amparo. Capptausei The day after tne Et Asper* incident, I expressed the feelings of the peotle. I made statements on behalf of AO and as the party's resIdentiat candilate. I expressed my doubts regarding the report oresented ty those who were involved in the incident. T asked the 4overnment for a clear and specific explanation regarding the hapeenings. The president of the republic was abroad at the time of the intident. Upon his return to the country, he explained what had hapoened. The president said that even though he had received a report from those who had teen involved in the incident, he had ordered an investigation and that he would guarantee the country would know the truth, that no crime would be hidden from the people. This is what Venezuelan democracy reouests. We repudiate, we are :lurt over, and we: protest the toss of life as was the case in EL Amparo. 4twever, we also know things Like this unfortunately happen throughout the world, In all regimes and governments, in the most civilized countries, everywhere. What is important is that democracy obes not allow, nor should it allow, that a crime against the most precious right of lan. the right to Life, remain unpunished. kapplausel (more) 302635 3T 0:?814 0 r ? jrve3011 4e 0110203z dee Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/14 : CIA-RDP92-00053R000300350003-1
