yesterday south of the Plaine des
Jarres has been rescued and re-
turned in good condition to the
Kitty Hawk.
c. The see-saw "battle" over
Phou Kout hill goes on in the rain.
By latest report, neutralists were
marching back up the hill.

pens in Laos, the neutralists had
abandoned their positions when
fired on only to discover later
that the enemy had no intention of

NOTES
A. Congo Rwandan troops have repulsed efforts
of the Kivu insurgents to use Rwandan terri-
tory for a flanking movement on Bukavu. Congo
Army messages speak of another buildup of
rebel strength south of town, and aerial recon-
naissance bears this out. An attack seems
imminent.
C. South Vietnam The life-imprisonment sentence
dealt Major Sy triggered the expected massive
demonstration by Catholics in Seoul. Consider-
ing the large numbers involved (at least 35,-
000), few seem to have been injured. The
demonstration has since subsided, but the
Catholics' bitterness over what they consider
to be persecution for the excesses of the Diem
regime remains.
