a. The Peronist-dominated
central committee of the General
Confederation of Workers has voted
to continue the agitation campaign
it began some months ago.
b. This decision was opposed
by most of the independent affili-
ates of the CGT, almost all of which
did not attend the meeting.
c. An open split in the CGT
seems to be in the making.
e. The government has started
its own propaganda campaign to
rebut the widespread criticism of
its inaction on various needed re-
forms and its failure to do anything
about the rising cost of living.
a. As a result of the recent
border clashes, military traffic
has increased markedly in both coun-
tries.

precautionary at the moment. So
far, there is no evidence of an
offensive buildup in the Hula-
Galilee area, scene of the recent
incidents.

A. Laos The embassy's soundings among the prin-
cipal leaders have produced assurances that
no coup is in immediate prospect. A number
of these contacts pointed out, however, that
the actions of lower ?ranking hotheads are
always unpredictable. Despite these fairly
relaxed views of the leadership, rumors about
coup plotting are still going the rounds.
