NOTES
A. USSR-India The flow of Soviet aircraft to India
continues.
B. Burma Reaction is setting in to acceleration of
the government's nationalization program and to the
recent ouster of the moderate Aung Gyi2 General Ne
Win's former number-two man. Civilian opposition is not
unified, but discontent and apprehension are widespread.
C. Syria An extensive shake-up in the Syrian officer
corps-- involving the transfer of a number
of senior officers--
The shake-up has in-
creased tension in the army and may precipitate
another coup attempt.

F. Cuba Havana has denied a visa for NBC's Martin
NEFUnsky.
H. Uruguay The government, still beset by the public
utility strike, has declared a "limited state of
siege." There is some chance this may lead the
Communists to reverse their policy and support violent
opposition in order to maintain their influence
among leftist groups and the unions.
