Vietnam No significant developments have been reported today. 2. Dominican Republic Although more moderate elements in the rebel camp are accepting the Organi- zation of American States' proposals with minor modifications, it remains to be seen whether they can impose their views or break away from Caamano and the extremists. These moderates are mainly Bosch supporters. If they do break away, Garcia Godoy, the prospective provision- al government head, says he will be will- ing to take office. The negotiations now center on the dismantling of the rebel zone. This al- most certainly will require some force if the extremists' agreement is not ob- 3. Kashmir tained 50X1 50X1 United Nations Under Secretary Bunche says he is going to Kashmir this week end at U Thant's request. Bunche's move evidently comes as a surprise to the Indians, and probably the Pakistanis as well. Bunche says there is no ques- tion as to who is responsible for the in- cursions into Kashmir, and that his pur- pose is merely to find out whether the Pakistanis are willing to stop. The Indians at the United Nations apparently suspect that Bunche's trip is inspired by Washington and London. 50X1 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003900180001-5 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003900180001.-5 4. Greece 5. USSR Papandreou takes his case to the countryside today, and more demonstra- tions in both Athens and the provinces are thus in prospect. Although Papan- dreou has not openly asked for Communist support, the Communists are playing an increasing role, inserting their own slogans and leading the crowds. The US Embassy believes that insta- bility will be the rule for months to come, even if Premier Tsirimokos wins his confidence vote next week. The feud between Papandreou and the palace has opened a Pandora's box of constitutional issues at a time when there are major economic and foreign policy difficulties still to be faced. The SS-9 is a third-generation missile using storable liquid fuels and carrying a warhead with an estimated yield up to 18 megatons. Deployed sites for the SS-9 are probably under construc- tion. In earlier test series, its record was relatively good. 50X1 50X1 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003900180001-5 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003900180001-5 TOP SECRET TOP SECRET Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2015/07/24 : CIA-RDP79T00936A003900180001-5
