There is still talk of imminent
trouble, but the Guatemalan political
situation has apparently stayed on dead
center during the past twenty-four hours.

4. Dominican Republic Garcia Godoy told Ambassador Bunker
yesterday that he plans to take no ac-
tion on the Santiago investigation re-
port until after the Christmas weekend.
In contrast to his outlook earlier in
the week, Garcia Godoy now seems to feel
that public clamor for immediate action
has died down.
There was a great deal of gunfire
in Santo Domingo last night. Most of it
probably resulted from holiday celebra-
tions.
5. Vietnam
There have been no reports of major
military action in South Vietnam so far 50X1
today.
On the diplomatic front, Guinea
President Sekou Toure says he will send
his foreign minister to Hanoi soon to ob-
tain in writing a statement from Ho Chi
Minh regarding negotiations.
