1. L':ajor Lea ie scheduled to procoed to China for temporary duty
on or about 25 July 1945 ea a member of the Diractor~a inspeotion party.
2. It is requested that +_axi. Lea bo permitted to depart without
attending "S" School. Since the cloaiug of "l4" Sahool, the only assessment
possible ie the three-day course at "S". Because of the many matters to
which he must attend in connection with the wort. of his Section, and hie
preparation for departure, it would be extremely inconvenient for Idajor
Lea to have to be away for so lon? a period of time. Furthermore, in view
of Ida j. Lees three years of experience with the agency in both administrative
and operational capacity, and including satisfactory pertormenoe under trying
field conditions overseas, it is believed that this is an appropriate Dees
to great ouch a waiver.
3. It is also requested that Major Lea be excused from attendance
et the prescribed medical lectures. Idajor Lee was born is China, and lived
there ten years, and is well versed in the basic rules i'or preserving good
health in insanitary tropical countries. 14lSlo oa temporary duty in India
