SUBJECT: Article Entitled "Of Resistancen from
Nineteenth Center Magazine, March, 1949
Enclosed as of possible interest is a copy of an
article which appeared in the March, 1949 issue oP
Nineteenth Cent Magazine. It was written by Mr. Julian
Amery, on the subject of indigenous resistance movements.
Mr. Amery, formerly a member of the British Parlia-
ment, is the author of the recently published Sons of
the Ea 1e an authoritative chronicle of wartime events
n bania and related matters. From 1940 to 1945 he
engaged in British SOE activity in various Balkan courr.
tries including Yugoslavia and Albania. He is an indi-
vidual with considerable experience and knowledge of L
the doctrine and employment of resistance, guerrilla ./ ~
or partisan forces.
The thoughts developed in the article are chal-
lenging and interesting; they throw considerable light
on many significant aspects of a little-known field.
