1. This memorandum will confirm arrangements made.
for the visit to Headquarters on 25 August of Col. Juan
Manuel CONTRERAS Sepulveda, Chief of the Chilean Directorate
of National Intelligence (DINA).
2. The Deputy Director of Central Intelligence plans
to host a luncheon at Agency Headquarters.for Colonel
CONTRERAS on 25 Augusta ,The luncheon will be essentially
for protocol puxposes. Private. discussions will be held
between the DDCI and Colonel CONTRERAS after lunch when:.
Colonel CONTRERAS will e:cplain recent .measures taken by -
the Chilean Government to improve its image on the civil
rights issue, and discuss. Chile's need for military. assist-~
ance.
