This concerns your 18 October 2007 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request
for "copies of all internal Central Intelligence Agency (`CIA') documents pertaining
to discussions concerning the decision to initiate an internal review of the operations
of the CIA's Inspector General (`IG'), John Helgerson, and of the IG's Office as a
whole."
In a telephone conversation with one of my staff members on 21 February 2007,
Mr. Brad Moss of your office, requested the status of this request.
Your request is still being processed. We can appreciate your concern with not
having received a final response to your request. Please be assured that it is the
overwhelming number of requests and their complexity that causes delays in our
responses. At the present, our workload comprises thousands of FOIA, Privacy Act, and
Executive Order requests, and it is our policy to handle each on a first-in, first-out basis
that is the most equitable to all requesters. Again, we regret that we are unable to give you
a definite date for completion and ask for your continued cooperation.
