and Other Homeland Security Related Information
(U//FOUO) In regards to the referenced memorandum, the
Office of Inspector General (OIG) rarely reviews, much less
amasses, substantive or contextual data regarding weapons of
mass destruction (WMD) or other homeland security-related
information. Nevertheless, using the search terms provided,
OIG's information management office (IMO) reviewed shelf lists
i e unsure or the exact con ent o these recor s, we ieve
they constitute the only OIG WMD-related holdings. Proper
consideration will be given to ensure the protection of these
records in the event they fall responsive to any Freedom of
Information Act, Privacy Act, or other request or mandate for
review and subsequent public release.
(U//FOUO) In the unlikely event WMD information is
collected as the result of an OIG audit, inspection, or
investigation, we believe the chance of the inadvertent release
of such data remote. All non-OIG originated information is
referred to the owning office or agency for review and release
decisions. Given the likeliness that these offices are more in
tune with the necessity to protect such information, we feel
OIG's current process for reviewing material for release, and
 referring it when appropriate, is sufficient to prevent the
public availability of material damaging to national security.
