2. Attached is a report :NI' at interview recently held with
Subject, during which he indicated his belief that several of
his associates at the Army Language School and at Harvard
University were sympathizers-toward-yommuniam, or had participated
in Communist activity. In addition, he stated he had signed a
petition which may have been Communist sponsored, and that in
his adolescent years he was "sympathetic ?-65 Communism in the
Utopian sense."
3. It is requested that your confidential informants in
Cambridge, Massachusetts; New York City (Columbia University);
and at the University of Michigan be contacted to see if there'
is' any. indication that Subject has participated in any Communist

SUBJECT: FELDMAN, Horace Zeigler
During a recent interview, Subject indicated that during 1940
or 1941 he had attended an open meeting at the New Lecture Hall at
Harvard University where the principle speaker was
During 1940 or 1941, Subject stated, he had signed a petition
against war, but could not recall if the petition was sponsored by
a Communist organization, or, in fact, who had sponsored the petition.
Subject stated that during his adolescent years he was sympathetic "
to Communism in a Utopian sense.
? During the interview, Subject stated that there were a number of
individuals wham he had known in the past who quite possibly could
have been Communist sympathizers in varying degrees. The following
are individuals wham Subject placed in this category.

Subject stated that SCHURMANN was his classmate at Harvard, but
\he claims that he hates SCHURMANN, arid there was no social contact
between him and SCHURMANN. Subject Met him for the last time in
Tokyo about a year ago while SCHURMANN was in Japan on a fellowship.
Subject stated that SCHURMANN is-definitely a confirmed Marxist.
