Abstract. Three items on personal psychic experiences (clairvoyance, telepathy and
con tact with the dead) were in cluded in a su rvey on human values which was con ducted on
large representative samples in 13 countries in Europe and in the USA (N=48.607). The
percentage of persons reporting these experiences in B.irope were 34% reporting
telepathy, 21% clairvoyance and 25% contact with the dead. Percentages for USA were
considerably higher. Sixty percent of Americans and Italians reported some psychic
experience andonly 24percentsof Norwegians. Education hadnoeffect on the reporting of
psychic experien ces, wh ereas n ation ality sex, marital status, reporting positive and n egative
affects and several other variables did.
