DD/I noted that it is practice on each Friday to send to Secretaries Vance and McNamara listings of publications produced by the Agency during that week. This has been found to be most useful to the Secre- taries. DD/I tabled a memo providing the preliminary anal sis of the photographic take from CORONA DD/I said that no CIB would be produced on the holiday of 22 February but that the President's Daily Brief will be issued as usual. Godfrey reported on a quick and unexplained trip to East Germany by Soviet Party boss Brezhnev. Kent observed that he and DD/I will be at his weekend for consideration of the next issue of Studies in Intelligence. At DDCI inquiry Kent said that ONE officers and Chamberlain will meet with Science Advisor Hornig this afternoon in connection with eported on a successful meeting with the D/NRO yester- day. Houston noted that a meeting has been arranged with the Mahon subcommittee on 23 February. Among items to be discussed are the two most recent releases from the Agency reserve. Houston noted that Senator Javits has joined those urging a Joint Committee on Intelligence but Javits refrained from attacking the Agency. ADDP noted concerning the up- 25X1 comingXXlli Soviet Party Congress. DDCI queried the reliability of the sourcin . 25X1 DDCI asked that OCI analyze this 25X1 report carefully. ADDP reported on a sudden flurry of business yesterday afternoon resulting from a telephone call received by the Department, alleging that an American businessman is in ChiCom hands and charged with espionage. Checks here and at Hong Kong have revealed no substance to this. ADDP noted that we are still awaiting Koren's response to our request for a State Department view on the surfacing of a Hungarian defector before one of our subcommittees on the Hill. Executive Director reported on a meeting he attended last night of the Board of Directors of Government Services, Inc. Costs of Govern- ment cafeterias are rising and prices in the cafeterias may go up. DDCI noted receipt of a prepared statement to be made by Secretary Rusk on Vietnam before the Fulbright Committee today. DDCI made the statement available to Carver. The last will deal with Congressional overview of intelligence activities. The first four will deal with the Agency and its work. There is disagreement within the New York Times as to when the articles will be published. 1. DD/S&T is requested to arrange for a presentation at the 21 February morning meeting of the details concerning our new con- clusions as to the capabilities of Soviet s-e radars.
