propulsion of com'uat vehicles and light marine vessels. fibs u:~e of various standard
parts and equipment for artillery is reviewed on the basis of the prewar and war practice.
'i'nis review includes a progressive development of a noris of various gjuns, cannons,
c~ortars and howit~ors of 57,76, 122, 152. 203 and 280 mm manufactured between 131 and
194'3. A 152-mm hol~ritzQr and 122-mm cannon are shokm in a figure mounted on a Standard
gun~carria~re. Zt is mentioned that a series of artillery carriages and vehicles were
constructed on the basis of chassis used for tank4. The use of standard parts for
ammunition and small arm weapons is also briefly reviewed with referenoea to the prewar
f and war experience. Orig. art. has: 3 figures.
