In anaesthetized dagE~, cafe and rabbits, Yinca minor (I) in doses of 0,025 - J.3 g. f kg
(i.v. or antra-intestinal) causes a fall of blood pressure. This fall is not pre-
vented by vagotomy ar antaxoline; atropine reduces it somewhat. Decerebration
prolongs th~~ hypotensive effect in dogs and abolishes it in cats, The pressor ef-
fect induced by clamping the common carotid arteries is decreased by I. The drug
has no influence on the pressor actions of adrenaline, ephedrine and vasopressin,
or on the hypotensive actions of ACh, neostigmine and dihydroergotamine. Aza-
methonium ('pendiomid') does not affect the action of I. On the heart, I has a nega-
tive chronotropic effect. It abolishes in cats the contraction of the nictitating
membrane, caused by stimulation of the preganglianic sympathetic fibres. T011U8
and peristalsis of the small intestine, whether in -situ or iROlated, are increased by
