SUBJECT . Request Permission to Participate in Panel Discussion
1. I request permission to present informal comments and participate in
a discussion on the future of the European Community.
2. The forum is sponsored by the Georgetown Center for Strategic and
International Studies and will be held 1600-1730, 26 July 1984. My
participation was requested by of Georgetown CSIS. 25X1
3. The lead panel member will be John Holmes, Director, Regional
Political-Economic Affairs, EUR, State. John will begin with short prepared
remarks, to which I will respond, to be followed by open discussion/Q&A with
the forum participants--15-20 middle-to upper-level executives in
multinational firms. All attendees will be US citizens.
4. My comments will be limited to unclassified material and I will not
engage in policy prescription. My Agency affiliation will be disclosed to the
group but will not be advertised beforehand; in addition, any post-conference
reports of the discussion will not mention my name or affiliation.
