MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Administration

SUBJECT: Community Relations - New Building
1. The initiation of the architectural-engineering design
of the proposed new building for the Headquarters compound has
produced a new series of site activities highly visible to the
local community. Three survey crews are at work refining
topographic information. Some of this work is necessarily
occurring along the compound boundaries. Secondly, large white
markers have been placed on the boundary lines for the purposes
of aerial photography.
2. These activities have produced a number of queries from
the Savile Lane community and the D ane-ville District
Supervisor's office. One call from President STAT
of the Downscrest Citizen's Association, resulted in a request
for an Agency representative to appear before the Citizen's
Association on 22 or 23 February to discuss current activities
and the status of planning for the new building.
3. Since the good will of the community is necessary for a
smooth construction program, it is recommended that this request
be honored. As the purpose of the meetin is to provide
information only, it is recommended that Chief of STAT
the Building Planning Staff, OL, be designated as the
representative.
