Approved For Release 2008/06/04: CIA-RDP89-00244R000400740019-2 6 APR 9983 Honorable Frank R. Wolf !louse of Representatives Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Mr. Wolf: This letter is in response to your inquiry concerning the Agency's plans for construction of a Visitors' Center adjacent to Savile Lane. The Master Plan approved by the National Capital Planning Corission in January 1981 included a 4,000 square foot Visitors' Center which extended approximately 150 feet from the existing roadway toward Savile Lane. The current schematic design has reduced the size of the Visitors' Center to approximately 2,000 square feet and located it approximately 350 feet farther north from Route 123. The Center remains approximately 150 feet from the existing roadway toward Savile Lane. The reduction in size and relocation away from Route 123 should be a positive benefit for citizens on Savile Lane. With respect to Route 123, planned improvements were recommended to the National Capital Planning Commission by the Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation (VDH&T). Actual design of these improvements by VDH&T cannot commence until Federal funds become available. On 22 march 1983, the Agency responded to telephone call STAT concerning survey teams enterin his property without proper authorization. An apology was extended to and he was advised that the survey STAT contractor was reminded to obtain prior authorization before entering any private property. The Agency has no knowledge of any other survey teams in the area. It is hoped that the foregoing information provides a satisfactory response to issues. The Agency will continue to pork with local citizens to minimize the impact of the project on the neighborhood.
