with a question about coverage in the South Asia Daily Report of Afghanistan.
It was his impression that in the past few days FBIS had downgraded
Afghanistan, publishing less material and relegating it to the "Other
Countries" section. He seemed to think that there was some sort of sinister
reason for this. After checking with the DR branch chief, I was able to
reassure him that the DR had not changed its practice of publishing nearly
everything received from the field on Afghanistan. It was simply that for a
few days the field filed little, and to save space the country was placed in
the "Other" section. Robinson did not seen completely convinced, so I
suggested that he keep an eye on it for a few more days and if he still felt
that the country was being given short shrift to give me a call and I would
query the field.
