JOHN BITOFF Executive Assistant to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff SUBJECT: National Security Council Meeting on Central America; January 10, 1986 (S) My memo of November 19 informed you that a National Security Council meeting on US policy toward Central America would be held on December 10. As you have already been informally notified, the date for the meeting has been changed to Friday, January 10, 1985; 11:00-12:00 PM. The NSC meeting will be held in the Cabinet Room of the White House. Principal plus one assistant is invited. An agenda for the meeting is attached. (S) As stated in my previous memo, the key issue which the meeting will address is the need to maintain a policy toward Nicaragua which demonstrates a clear prospect of success. We have shortened the list of papers to be prepared for the NSC meeting.
