Thank you for your note of January 18, 1983,
regarding my efforts during the recent Continuing
Resolution. I am proud to say that I think we all
were on the right side of the issue, and I am glad
that, in this case at least, the right side prevailed.
As you might imagine, that is not always the case.
Now it is essential that we hold the contractor's
feet to the line because we cannot afford any more
problems on this one.
Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting your
new Deputy, Eloise Page, and I was extremely impressed
with her. Her background and experience in
intelligence matters, not to mention her quick wit and
many contacts in the business,, are sure to stand you
in very good stead. I think you make a good team, and
I wish you the very best in the New Year.
